Eloise Powe^^l, Margaret Har ris and Phyllis were the original nominees. In the first election the results were a tie between Phyllis and Margaret. In the run-off our present president won the election by a narrow margin. Phyllis has been quite active in extra-curricular activities on the campus both last year and this year. For her dramatic work in the college production of Thread of Destiny she was asked in Del ta Psi Omega dramatic fraternity. She received a bid from Beta Phi Gamma national honorary jour nalistic fraternity for her outstand ing work on Columns the college newspaper. As a B student in French she was initiated into Sig ma Pi Alpha an honorary language fraternity. In that fraternity she held the office of president in her first year but she resigned her post as top officer when she be came president of the Y. W. C. A. The Y. W. C. A. will certainly see a successful year under her supervision and she will give her self to the Christian ideal of the association. While he was a junior, Bob was active in a great many extra-curricular activities. He is not what is known as a jack-of-all trades and a mas ter of none; he is a fast talker in more than one department and an excellent dancer any way you look at it. Bob has a well-rounded per sonality that seems to be dominant in all those mountaineers from up around North Wilkesboro. Other than being an excellent dancer, good mixer, and an apt student. Bob is president of the Young Men’s Christian Association. Also, one will find that his head doesn’t swell over twice its original size by the offices he holds; he is still willing to help the underdog or the person who is slow in catching On to the facts of life. He has a haircut just perfect for dear Uncle Sam to appreciate; however, Bob is trying to grow a foot or two of hair in order to lose Uncle Sam’s love for him. Since Eisenhower is go ing to lower taxes, there would not be enough money in the treas ury to pay an army barber to cut his hair. After finishing his schooling at Louisburg, Bob plans to transfer to N. C. State and further his ed ucation in the field of engineering. He intends to be another Bell or Einstein. Many hearty wishes for great achievement in your life’s work. Bob!
