Friday, November 22,1968 COLUMNS Page 3 HOMECOMINS COURT Marine Division Band Presents Concert General Richard G. Weede, Commanding General of the Atlantic Fleet from Norfolk, Virginia, authorized the 2nd Marine Division Band to pre sent a concert at Louisburg College on November 23, 1968, as part of the college’s Homecoming entertainment. Mayor Pansford serves as co-or- dinator for the band which consists of forty-eight musi cians, including a drum and bugle corps. The 2nd Marine Division Band is one of the best known bands in the United States. It has been on hand for numerous major events along the Atlantic Coast, including the Inaugura tion of the President of the United States. Weather permitting, the band will present its concert on Saturday, November 23, at 5:00 p.m. on the steps of Main. If inclement weather prevents an outdoor concert, the band will move into AC building. This concert is free and all students are encouraged to at tend. Homecoming Candidates Eleven girls have been chos en to participate in this year’s Homecoming festivites from various clubs and organizations on campus. The following girls will compete for the 1968 1 DIANE BENTON Miss Diane Benton, sophomore, calls Portsmouth, Virginia her home. Planning to attend either East Carolina or the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Diane is sponsoring the Inter-Club Council. Homecoming title: Miss Mary Bess Jones, Miss Judy Hight, Miss Tony Gupton, Miss Sue Ann Hardwick, Miss Diane Benton, Miss Diane Schultz, Miss Carol Myrick, Miss Peggy Copeland, Miss Dianne Bob bitt, Miss Mary Lee Hill and Miss Becky Payne. The 1968 Homecoming Queen will be crowned at the halftime of the game between the Louisburg Hurricanes and Southwood College. Judges for he event will be Mrs. Nancy Forbes Har riett, former Louisburg College Homecoming Queen; Mr. Charlie Brown from radio sta tion WKIX; and Mr. Charles Gaddy from radio WPTF. Former Louisburg Queen Mrs. Michael Anderson Boy kin, the former Miss Linda Modlin and last year’s Home coming Queen, is presently living and working in Chapel Hill, where her husband is a fourth year pharmacy student at the University of North Carolina. Linda originally hails from Rocky Mount and obtain ed a one year business certifi cate from Louisburg. MRS.
