Salesmen
On Campus
Have you noticed the ex
cessive number of salesmen on
campus recently? If so. Phi Beta
Lambda members are in the
midst of their annual chocolate
sale!
The sales serve as two main
purposes: to give the chapter
members experience in practic
ing good salesmanship and to
add much-needed revenue to
the Phi Beta Lambda treasury.

Crowd
Appearing February 24 to
March 1, the third of the Cof
fee House Series will feature
the pop music sound of the 3’s
A Crowd. In 1967 Richard
Patterson, Colleen Peterson,
Dennis Pendrith, Bruce Cock-
burn, and David Wiffen’s paths
crossed so many times that
they decided to settle down on
one spot. While appearing at
Expo ’67, Mama Cass and Papa
Daugherty saw the group and
in a very short time they were
in California recording their
first album for Dunhill Records
under the direction of Cass
Elliott and Steve Barri. Then it
Freshman Dance
On January 31, 1969, the
Freshmen sponsored the first
dance of the New Year for the
purpose of raising money for
the Spring Formal. This, along
with the collecting of quarters
in Freshman Chapel, is hoped
to supply enough money to
promote the spring event.
Providing entertainment for
this special occasion were the
Cliffhangers of Enfield, a group
composed of five young
musicians who have had several
successful engagements in
Richmond and Raleigh.
The price was $1.50 per
person or $2.50 per couple,
and it was held from eight-
thirty until twelve in the col
lege cafeteria. Everyone danced
and enjoyed himself and is
lookg forward to the next
dance.

Regarding the type of music
the group plays, drummer
Richie Patterson says, “We’ll
play the music we like, do our
own things and if people go for
it, that’s good.” Bruce Cock-
burn, the writer of the group,
says, “I want to keep up a
reputation of being myself;
therefore, I’ll play the music I
want to play.”
3’A Crowd has had its ups
and downs, but now they are
ready to clear a path to the
top.
