Hello, let me introduce myself for those of you who do not know me. Better yet, let me introduce the new and improved Black Ink\ In keeping with tradition, the Black Ink will work diligently to honor its original mission statement of transforming blackness into pictures and words. This year, however, the Black Ink will also aim to achieve four new objectives. To Educate - We will strive to feature stories in ways that increase readers’ general knowledge of issues pertinent to the black community in order to help readers grow. To Enlighten - We will open our pages to editorials and poetry that challenge conventional opinions in order to force readers to think. To Entertain - We will include charming commentary and spirited illustrations that amuse in order to make readers smile. To Inform - We will present in-depth stories about notable current events and other relevant topics in order to make readers aware. As you read through this, the first Black Ink of the year, be educated, be enlightened, be entertained and be informed. Hopefully , you will be pleased. If you’re not pleasantly surprised with the new and improved Black Ink, the next issue is on us! (Much like this first one was.) 3 Black Ink
