The student senate consists of 19 student
senators elected at large from the student

credit hours and is allowed only two
unexcused absences from senate meetings in
any one year.
The senate is a legislative, as well as a
working body. The senate appropriates money
for the activities sponsor^ by the SGA. It
plans and carries out social and cultural
activities and also establishes rules Md
guidelines in concurrence with administration
policy to regulate student behavior at all SGA-
sponsored activities.
As of last year, eveiyone pays an activity
fee so as to allow ai/students to participate (at
no extra charge) in all on campus activities
such as: Fine Arts Council events, intramural
sports. Miss Gaston CoUege Pageant, Spring
Week activities, cookouts, dances, Christmas
egg nog parties, etc.
Now that everyone pays an activity lee,
each student receives all of the above and
sometimes is allowed one free guest. "Hie
students also receive the Literary Magazine,
The Gaslight and I.D. Cards free and students
have the option to buy a yearbook for 36
percent of the actual cost.
