Phone HE 4-6311 MY FIRST BASEBALL GAME By Elizabeth Rabon After I had harped at my husband for years to take me to a base ball game, he finally said he would. Well, we got ready and went. We were perched there on those plank seats, gazing at all the funny people who came in, when all these convicts came racmg out on the field. One of them shouted, “Play ball, boys!” Well, I figured he was the boss who had to tell them what to do, and also that it was a mean trick to wait until they got out there to tell them what it was they were there for. There they went! Just a-slapping and knocking a ball all over the place, with this sUck, and then see ing how far they could run before it fell back to the ground. When they ran to those little white things, sometimes the convict whose place it was to stand on it, wouldn’t move for the one who was out-ruiming the ball to get on it, so he had to lay down and roll up to it. This al ways caused a lot of dust. It went on that way all night, just knocking, slappmg, sliding, shout ing, and all tiiat. I 1 STAR PRESS, INC.
