When I was compiling articles for the last
edition of The Pilot I worked with a story in the
spon’s section about the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes (FCA). I am by no means what you might
consider active in this organization; however, 1 have
been to several of their Thursday night meetings
while here at GWU.
When I finished typing the article, I began to
think about the name of the organization and what
that entails. It seems to me that a group entitled
"FCA" would be a group of Qiristian athletes that
meet, have Bible studies, etc.
'fhen I thought about the people that I have seen

12:30 p.m. Drawing for prizes
attending FCA. Needless to say very few of these
have been athletes of any sort other than occasional
participation in intramural sports.
With that in mind, I pictured myself as an new
athlete/student here at GWU. I then go to a FCA
meeting. Would I feel that I was part of a ministry
designed to support athletes? Well, I don't think so.
Don't get me wrong; I am not trying to in any
way defame what has been going on in FCA. It is
comprised of many good people with sincere inten
tions. But if this is a group that supposedly focuses
its efforts on Christian athletics, should there be an
emphasis on athletics?
Pump up the

WGWG, the only FM radio station in Cleve
land County, has boosted its power from 4,680 watts
to 50,000 watts.
A new 275-foot radio tower has already been
built, but it probably will be mid-February before the
tower will be used to expand WGWG's signal.
"Challenge and diversity makes us better, and
with the renovation and upgrade of the radio station,
we will have better communication in keeping with
a growing mission." said Ralph "Scoot" Dixon, vice
president for university relations.
WGWG has not only upgraded its power, but
has revamped its content through programs of enter
tainment, insight, and news that will reach more
listeners.
On Sunday evenings, WGWG features com
mentary programs such as "To the Best of Our
Knowledge," which deals with various aspects of
life, and "What's New in Medicine," which allows
people to call in about health issues.
There is also an hourly news report and three
12-minute newscast a day focusing on the Carolinas.
Manuel "Allen" Setzer, a retired GWU Spanish
teacher who now helps run the station, said he is
proud of the progress WGWG has made.
WGWG is found on tlie FM dial at 88.3. Air
time is Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
and on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
For information or requests, you can call
WGWG at 434-2349.

nice to have a choice!"
"Since integrity is the DIMENSIONS theme this year, when is a speaker actually going to talk
about it?"
"If you're going to drain the pool, turn the heat back on; we aren't vying for the starting role in a

"We're going to have to hire a grading company to clean the dirt out of the locker/changing rooms
