Tr-r»t a xtt^ ■ I by LAURA SOUTHERLAND Staff' Writer With two sweeping victories to get Delt Shock into the championship game of intramural flag fbotbal 1, it was fitting that the very first play earned ttiem a touchdown from Chris Grimes. Delt Shock defeated the Milkmen 26-6 last Thursday, Feb. 24. Following up their first score, the Delts passed to Chris Albright for another touchdown and gained the extra point. Responding, the Milk men scored a touchdown fiom Jessie DeMaria Kenny to end the half, 14-6. In the second half, Delt Shock scored two more touchdowns, another firom Chris Grimes and one fk)m Brett Wells. “We came in as the defending champions fiom last year, and to now have back-to-back titles is awesome,” said Brett Wells. “It is our first win of the millennium and it will set the tone for the rest of our teams in the other intramural sports.” Basketball Winds Down With Champion ship Game A long and tiring season will come to a close for intramural basketball, Thursday at 7 p.m. in Trask Coliseum. The postseason tournament be gan last Sunday night with 40 teams participating out of eight different leagues. Favored to win the Ibumament are the Shaolin Warriors of the Or ange league. Still undefeated are Pi Kappa Phi, Blaze 2000, Version2Hoopsters and And 1. “We have had a great season and were able to remain undefeated,” said playerQay Sutton. “We just hope we get the win and can head on to Chapel Hill for the regionals...” The women’s championship game will pre cede the men’s, with the action starting at 6 p.m. in Trask. Six teams ready to take that last shot for the win. Look for the Has Beens to remain unde feated and win the post season tournament for the ladies. Softball Teams Ready To Swing The men’s and co-rec. softball teams started off this season with their preseason tournament on Monday, Feb. 28 at Brooks Field. The men’s championship game is tonight at 7 p.m at Brooks Field, field number one. In the men’s league. Pi Kappa Phi, Ghettoway All-stars, Chi Phi ‘B’, Hard and Level, Chi Phi ‘A’, Delta Sigma Phi, Sigma Nu, and the Brookstone Bombers are ready to start regular season play after spring break. In co-rec., Upper Deck, PSE, HardHat Crew, Good Times, Psycho Alpha Disco Beta, The Buzz, and Bobs Auto Shop are ready to hit ‘em hard. The championship game for corec. will follow the men’s game at 8 p.m. The women will begin championship play at 7 p.m. at Brooks Field on field number two. Belk faced off against Chi Omega yesterday, and the winner of that game will face the winner of the Hawks vs. Galloway Divas game tonight. Registration will be held two weeks prior to NCAA tournament; Basketball Shooting Chal lenge signups are open until March 13 for any interested men or women. Event date: March 15 in the new Student Recreation Center; Par 3 Golf Tournament for men and women, signups are now open. The tournament will be Saturday, March 25 at 10 am. at Inland Greens.
