The Seahawk is currently seeking a new Advertising Director (AD).
Job responsibilities include leadership and supervision of the Seahawk’s Ad
vertising Department. The AD assumes responsibility for ensuring all paid ad
vertising appears in each publication of the Seahawk, maintaining good customer
and community relations, training sales staff, estabhshing and meeting yearly
sales goals, creating marketing materials, maintaining accurate sales records and
enforcing sales policies and regulations.
The Seahawk is the official student-run newspaper of UNCW, and has experi
enced massive financial growth in recent years. The Seahawk’s budget this year
is over $130,000, all of which is paid for by funds generated by the advertising
department. This is an on-campus, real-world opportunity to put advertising and
marketing skills to use in an academic enviroment.
Qualified applicants will have some experience (classroom and/or real-world)
in sales, marketing, record keeping, use of spreadsheets and databases and ability
to lead a staff of up to 15 people. A good customer-service oriented personaUty is
a must. Marketing/Business majors or graduate students are preferred. Appli
cants will submit a resume and two references (preferably at least one UNCW
professor). Deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2000.
The position will include a monthly salary plus commissions, with the possi
bility of earning internship credit. The Seahawk is an Equal Opportunity Em
