The focus of this match-up is simple: Can the home crowd make enough noise to quiet the Buckeye offense? Nope. Ohio State 28 Purdue 24 The Tar Heels head up to Virginia Satur day to see if they can salvage a disappoint ing season. The Cavaliers are enjoying their new stadium because now they ate able to hold more golf-clapping fans. Good thing North Carolina fans will probably wear neu tral colors and leave at halftime.. .they do not want to stir the locals. Virginia 28 UNC-CH 19 Qemson hosts Geoipa Tech in what will be a good game. Yes, I am serious. The Yel low Jackets always give the Tigers trouble. The past four matchups have ended by a scor ing difference of exactly three points. Qemson hopes to change the pattern, blow ing the game open prior to the third quarter. Between QB Woody Dantzler and LB Keith Adams, the Tigers will be in control through out the day. Qemson 44 Geoigia Tech 27 Tennessee versus South Carolina. Florida, on the other hand, is rolling with their new quarterback. The rotation continues. Florida 31 Geoigia 20 Just how good is trae fieshman QB Philip Rivers? N.C. State is counting on his great est performance of his short career this week end, when the Wolfpack host Florida State. FSU, still attempting resuigence toward re pealing as National Champions, may be look ing ahead for next week’s battle against Qemson. If so, N.C. State has a bona fide chance to upset. N.C. State 31 Florida State 27 Season Prognostication Record 45-21 diving team shares with one another is going to be a factor determining this year’s performance. Unity is important to the Seahawks because they have added 22 freshmen to this year’s squad. Senior Kate Milling, a native of Columbus, Ohio, noted she looks forward to introducing the newcom ers to collegiate-level swimming. “We have a lot of good freshmen and the team dynamics are really well,” Milling said. This suggests that the newcom ers to the UNCW squad have be come acclimated to expectations. Head coach of the UNCW swim ming program Dave Allen, who is in his 24th season with the Seahawks, stated that he has several aspirations for the teams. “We need to get our new people to form with the old to create a team concept. We want all of our fresh men to adjust both athletically and academically,” Allen said. Historically, the Seahawk swim mers and divers have a high tradi tion of distinguished scholastic achievement. In past years the UNCW swimming and diving teams, on top of being honored for great skill in the pool, have also been privileged to receive Academic All- American designations by the Col lege Swimming and Diving Coaches of America. The UNCW swimming and div ing teams are looking to do well this season. Their determination to be come one unit, working for one cause, has enabled them to rely on each other’s strengths and weak nesses. Optimism exudes from the pores of this year’s team and being such an interdependent unit is go ing to pave the way to success.
