Ye Olde Worlde Attracts Locals
And Students to Speed Opening
A little pizza, steak (char
coaled), spaghetti and a lot
of fun will be the menu at Ye
Olde Worlde. Two SA students
and a Laurinburg man have
spent the summer setting up
the restaurant which is across
from the campus.
The idea for the project be
gan last November when Tommy
Ingram and Fred Olert, both
juniors at SA, saw the vacant
building and realized its po
tential. The two plan to go into
business together after college
and decided that experience now
would be invaluable.
There was no formulated plan

SA Joins Teacher Co-Op Program
A revolutionary plan has been
introduced into the SA teacher
education program. Beginning
this school year, education
majors will be able to teach in
North and South Carolina
schools between their junior and
seniors years.
During the 1964-1965 ses
sion, a proposal was submitted
to the NC State Department of
Public Instruction. This pro
posal, the work of every area
of the College academic struc
ture, was approved on a three
year basis.
Admission to a teacher ed
ucation major program by the
appropriate academic division
is a necessary prerequisite for
admission to the student
teaching experience. The pro
cedures for such approval are
described in the college cata
log and the Student Handbook.
Notice is provided to the
BARRON MILLS
Director of the Teacher Ed
ucation programs of the candi
dacy, as well as the major
approval for all such persons.
Appropriate forms for ap
plication as a student teacher
aide and/or a student teacher,
including an assignment re
quest, are available at the of
fice of the Director of Teacher
Education. For student teacher
aides, the application should be
submitted as early as possible
in the fall term of the sopho
more year. Student teaching
applications should be sub
mitted no later than the fall
term of the junior year. When
these are completed and re
turned, the Teacher Education
Committee will take action to
approve or disapprove, and the
student will be notified ac
cordingly.
Prior to the first summer
student teaching program and
during the academic year be
tween summer terms, a con
tinuous consultative service of
staff members in Education,
Sociology, Psychology and other
appropriate academic areas
will be in contact with the pro-

should make it possible to
supplement and enlarge the case
study, research and evaluation
of the particular project and
the mutally deter mined specific
objectives. Where possible,
college staff members, along
with the resident coordinator,
will be assigned for the duration
of a project.
By incorporating brief
teaching with method, each stu
dent teacher will have the
opportunity to deal with both
principle and practice in the
teacher learning process to
gether with continued feedback
into the course experience.
Through the cooperation of local
school systems in the Laurin
burg area, it is expected that
laboratory experiences and
objectives may be attained for
each student teacher.
