W-S President Resigns;
Lists Senate as a Reason
BY JIM POPE
The President and the Vice-
President ot Winston-Salem
Hall have resigned their posi
tions within the dorm.
Ron Tingle, president, re
leased a letter on Tuesday,
November 11, which listed his
motives for resigning.
‘‘1. The necessity of spend
ing a much larger percentage of
my time in studying in order to
assure my graduation in May.
2., My increasing frustration
over the unwillingness of the
Senate to fulfill its necessary
constitutional functions.
3. My seeming inability to
work successfully with the
dorm council in providing con
structive leadership for the en
tire dorm”
In a telephone interview last
■'ight, Tingle said “The
minority block in the senate
which I was a member of was
fighting a losing battle and it
was becoming more so”.
‘ We were accomplishing no-
ti'ing,” he continued, ‘ and I
was sick of it”.
He said about the Dorm Coun
cil, “We never established the
rapport that we should have”.
Last ni^t at a dorm coun
cil meeting, Mark Perkins,
vice-president of the dorm, an
nounced his resignation be
cause, a reliable source said,
of his grades.
The council rejected a pro
posal by Mike Ferrell, Student
Association President, to let
him appoint a new president of
the dorm. They are waiting to
hear word from the elections
committee as to how to handle
the special election which has
become necessary.

the S.A.C.S. stipulated that St.

after the completion date. The
