A Message
From the
President
Dr. John Deegan, Jr.
President, St. Andrews
Presbyterian College
I am delighted to welcome back all
returning St. Andrews students and
extend a special greeting to our newest
members, the Class of 2007. I am glad
that you are here, for your presence
enriches the vitality of this institution.
And, it is my steadfast belief that the
time you spend with us will in turn
enrich your vitality, expand your intel
lectual capacity, and enhance your
determination to help make the world a
better place.

college that pursues academic excel
lence with determination and vigor;
one that emphasizes the development
of the whole person - intellectually,
socially, and spiritually - and places a

premium on the transformation of lives; one where a sense
of community and compassion prevaiAs; one where nurturing
is a common feature of the educational process; and one
where all members contribute legitimately to the maintenance
of a true teaching and learning community. I am persuaded
that St. Andrews is all of these things and I trust that among
your reasons for being here is that you want to participate in
the life of this extraordinary institution.
When asked, [ am inclined to assert that the mission
of St. Andrews Presbyterian College is to liberally educate its

to introduce myself. My name is
Emily Boomgarden. I am the Editor-
In-Chief of the St. Andrews Lance for
the 2003-2004 school year.
But that’s enough about me.
The most important people you need to
meet are my staff. I, and The Lance,
have been blessed with a wonderful
