P o STUDENT T R Y The Challenge Fur the first time since my capture into slavery, I see you Black Woman, for your strength, but most important I see me for my weakness. For the first time I realize the power of your love that endured so long, that waited patiently for my resurrection from my mental death. For the first time. Ebony Woman, I can appreciate that gentle, quiet, serenity of your tender moments that I placidly called ignorance. For the first time, Ebony I^dy, I see a deep value of self respect during our tender moments, that 1 coldly regarded as frigidness. Yes, for the first time. Black Woman, I can regenerate a mechanized love with you into a passionate love for you. But we face a challenge Black Woman, now that I can begin to truly love you. Please meet me halfway. Don’t Kive up on me. If I stumble along the way, it is only because this path is new to me, and in my effort to renew this love lost 1 am deceived like you, along the way. Meet the challenge Black Woman. 1 stand here waiting. I know your new found beauty is in great demand now for the first time, and many wish to exploit it. But now, I can truly appreciate and cherish it. Come take my hand, let us find our way together as none before us could do. Nothing is in our way now. Now with our eyes truly open, let us love with respect and true affection. Let’s agree on this That if we can unite Then we truly Will have freedom From ourselves and no One will suffer. Truth Form within us and let’s Begin to come together And unite with me. by D. Hargrave Why is it so difficult for me now to compose one small drop of my soul? Can it be that my mind is running out of the vital liquid of thought? Were my mind to ferment with energy, efficiency... Instead, my brain rots in its gourd, while maggots of sleep Invade and steal the helpless meat.
