Page 12, The News Argus, April, 1981 From Page 9 that maybe things, like “step shows” provided by the Greeks would motivate students to show interest in activities planned for the weekends. “I would like to find other ways of getting day students involved in trips (such as the trip to Washington for Black College Day) that boarding students take,” Wallace said. He stated that he would also like to find a way to work out a system with Mr. Tony Couch, director of dining services, some way in which day students could eat in the cafeteria. In an attempt to reach students, Wallace remarked he would distribute informa tion sheets on political processes and their effects on the students. Qualities which Wallace feels will enable him to hold the position of secretary of day student affairs are his experience as a leader and his par ticipation in leadership workshops. He stated, “I’m a good listener. I’m easy to talk to. I’m helpful, and I am usual ly in a good mood.” “I don’t think students really see the SGA as a social organization. I think they feel it is a mediator between them and the administration.” The students believe that it is a way of advancing themselves so that they will be prepared for the business world. Wallace’s promise to the students is, “No matter how hard the times get, I won’t quit on them. I will help advance themselves and Winston-Salem State.” Director of Judicial Affairs Cheryl Powell, a junior from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, is the only candidate for the director of judicial affairs. Cheryl is a political science major with a public administration tract. Cheryl wants to improve the rela tionship between the students and the SGA.
