DEAR LAQUITA
Dear Laquita,
My roommate is a messy Marvin!
When he first moved in everything
was cool. After the first week his
clothes were hanging from the light
bulbs and now the roachcs have start
ed moving in. He is one of the better
roommates I have had and I don’t
want him to move out. I just want
him to straighten up. How can I turn
this messy Marvin into a Mr. Qean?
Signed
In the Dumps
Dear In the Dumps,
It is great that you and your
tToommate get along. Since you do not
want him to move out, the best thing
for you to do is be straight forward
with him. Just sit down and explain
how you feel in a cordial manner. But
remember, do not start talking about
him to other people because that can
truly ruin your friendship.
Dear Laquita,
I am a college senior graduating
in May and engaged to be married in
June. My fiance has become very
jealous and suspicious of my activi
ties. The only thing that I do is study!
1 must go to the library in order to
concentrate and I have to stay at least
4 to 5 hours. He just can’t seem to be
lieve me when I tell him that I am
where I say I am. He thinks that I’m
seeing another man. Well, recently I
have met another man and I enjoy his
company. Needless to say we don’t
get to spend very much time together
because we have to sneak around.
This whole situation is just breaking
me down and now I don’t sleep well
at night and have began to lose
weight Should I tell my fiance that 1
want out?
Down and Out at WSSU
Dear Down and Out at WSSU,
I feel that you need to stop and
take a break from both relationships
because you are siresstng^ yourself
out. You need to figure out if this is
true love you feel for your fiance be
cause if it's not, you do not need lo get
married. But if it is, you need to leave
the other guy alraie. But the most im
portant thing right now is graduating
in May so dcm’t boggle your mind too
much about this situation.
Dear Laquita,
My ex-girlfriend refuses to leave
me alone. I was involved with this
girl the majority of last year. We used
to always fight and argue with each
other. This year I decided that we
should go our separate ways. She
agreed but still wants to be intimate. I
have been intimate with her but after
we do so I don’t feel that there is a
bond anymore. However, she does. I
know she does because every time I
say that she and I are the only friends
and that I have other friends, she be
comes very angry. She has interrupted
the friendship between other young
ladies and myself
If we are only friends, why does
she insist upon ending the relation
ship between other friends and me?
How can I stop her from making my
life miserable but at the same time,
keep oiir friendship?
Sincerely,
Troubled
Dear Ti"oubled,
In this situation it might be hard
to keep the friendship without her lik
ing you even more. First thing, do not
become intimate with her anymore.
That might be what she’s holding on
to. Any type of affection (a kiss, hug,
hand holding) may mean a lot to her
so don’t do it Keep your distance arxl
hopefully she will get the message.
Dear Laquita,
I have this problem of people not
showing up to class until test time and
when they come, ifaey want to sit be
side someone whose attendance is
good. On test day they are on time
and ready to sit beside you or in the
back of class so that they can cheat
off of your paper.
I feel that no one should cheat oiT
of anyone’s paper after an individual
has put in long hours of studying. So
how can you make the person aware
that if you have to study for long
hours, so does he/she.
Sincerely,
Awareness
Dear Awareness,
I agree with you, it is quite irritat
ing when a person tries to cheat off
another persons work. I have two sug
gestions for you:
1) If it’s a particular person, you
may want to bring it to the attention
of the professor.
2) After the person tries to sit
down beside you, get up and sit in an
other section of the class
