Page 2 The News Argus Opinion Tuesday, September 23, 2008 www.thenewsargus.com Always Watching' BY GRANT FULTON Co-Editor Welcome back! As one of the new co-editors for the News Argus, I can't believe how fast the summertime has gone and all the changes that have occurred on campus. Our student population has experienced tremendous growth, including the record-breaking number of class of 2012. Our new SGA president is senior Harold T. Respass, a political sci ence major from Charlotte. Mr. WSSU is Theodis Chun, a senior mass communications major from Salisbury; and Miss WSSU is Latoya Perry a senior marketing major from Fayetteville. Two new ram statues have been added — one at the main entrance of campus and the other at Bowman Gray Stadium. A new video screen was installed in the Field House. Now fans can view the WSSU home games from the stadium seats. Parking fees for residents are lower, and gated lots have now been assigned to the faculty and staff only. The Gamma Lambda chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is back on the yard after a long hiatus of four years. The Rams will begin officially playing in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in the 2009 season. The Rams are struggling as they adjust to competition on a Division I level. They suffered a heart breaking 14-8 loss against MEAC rival NC A&T Sept. 6 and they lost their first home game by a field goal in the final seconds of the game Sept. 12. Let's hope they will play better when they receive national expo sure this year by playing FAMU, which will air on ESPNU. "Always Watching..."
