Following are Dr. Jackson, and Dr. Thomas E. Corts. % lii In a symbolic gesture. President emeritus, Dr. Bruce E. Whitaker placed the Chain of Office on the shoulders Dr. Jerry Jackson during the inaugural ceremony. Thomas M. McCrary, chairman of the Board of Trustees performed the investiture and charge to Dr. Jackson. The Rev. Thomas H. Caulkins delivered the benediction. Over 50 delegates from other institutions across the country marched in the inaugural procession. A sumptuous repast was served under bright tena. Barry Bauguess and his trumpet ers sounded the processional marches, and also flayed for the luncheon on the Campus Green. Banners waved high from poles along Main Street, High Street, and College Street in Murfreesboro to signify the importance of the day. Following the symposium, Dr. Kenneth Wolfskin, chairman of the Department of Language and Literature at Chowan, dis cussed methods of teaching students with PartickBizzarro, English professor at ECU. The inaugural symposium, chaired by Dixie Goswami of Clemson University, gave participants ideasfor educationfor the 21st century.
