after 30 years from teach
ing physical education at
Lake Wales High School in
Lake Wales, Florida.

Sarah Virginia Parker is
beginning her ninth For
eign Service post in
Jakarta, Indonesia, where
she is serving as the secre
tary to the American am
bassador. She has served
at this post since 1970.

Peggie Leonard Stroud
is a 6th grade math teacher
in the Franklin Special
School District, Franklin,
Tennessee.

Charles B. Pond III
and his wife Anita cel
ebrated their 25th wed
ding anniversary on March
10, 1993. Charles is cur
rently serving Chowan
College as past president of
the Alumni Association
Board. He is the president
of Nansemond Cold Storage
Co. Inc. in Suffolk, Virginia.
Charles and Anita have two
sons, Charles IV and Paul.
They reside in Suffolk, Va.

24. They have two daugh
ters. Joyce teaches English
at Balboa High School in
Panama City, Panama.

the U.S. military depen
dents stationed in Panama.

Wayne T. Collins has
been a New York Life agent
for 13 years and has been
among the 5% of insurance
agents in the world to
qualify for the Million
Dollar Round Table every
year.

Janet Morris Yearwood
married to Mike Yearwood
since 1971 has 3 children,
ages 16, 10 and 6. Janet is
a marketing co-ordinator
for the Wooten Company,
an architectural engineer
ing firm in Raleigh.

Maggie Barnard Smith
is a sales account manager
for Falcon Microsystem Inc.
covering Tidewater, Va.,
North Carolina, South Caro
lina and Georgia. She was
named “Salesperson of the
Year” nationwide last year
and was awarded the
Apple Computer Company
Sales Partner Award. She
was also voted most valu
able representative by the
Falcon Marketing Depart
ment in 1992. She has two
sons and resides in Chesa
peake, Virginia.

Elise Chatfield is living in
California with her three
children, ages 15. 11, and
9. Her husband Jim is on
board the USS Wabash
stationed in the Gulf. Elise
is staying busy with her
church music, piano les
sons, three PTA’s, and
works as chairman of vol
unteers at the Navy-Ma
rine Corps Relief Society.

John M. Harris, while
serving as director of

Memorial Medical Center
in Dallas, Georgia, was
honored as “Outstanding
Manager of the Year” for
Marriott’s Health Care
Management Service’s
Southeast Region. John
has been promoted to
director of food and nutri
tion services at Mercy
Hospital in Owensboro,
Kentucky.

Mamie B. Mebane has
been married to Jerry
Mebane since 1986. They
have one son, age 4, and
reside in Windsor. North
Carolina. Mamie works for
Lea Lumber and Plywood
Company/Ladd Furniture
in the Accounting Depart
ment.

Robert L. McKinney III

26.1992. Robert is self-
employed with McKinney
Enterprises Inc.

a son, Jonathan Tyler on
August 21, 1992. Sid is
employed by the Eastern
Shore Railroad as a sales
representative/pricing
analyst.
James Eldridge Whitley,
Jr. and Michelle Leigh
Thacker were married on
February 14, 1993. and
will reside in Danville.
