Stephenson, of Pendleton, graduated with the Class of 1931, while Jones, now residing in Rocky Mount, was in the Class of 1930. Many Alumni return for a day filled with fun, food, fellowship, reunions and the traditional football Jeff Howie, president of the Alumni Association, returned a momento he collected while a student at Chowan in the 1950s. The directional road sign had been “kept in a safe place” since the ’50s, Howie said, and suggested that it now be placed in the Antiquities Room of Whitaker Library. Students, alumni and other friends of the college enjoyed the musical §a Ul e groups providing entertainment at the Susan P. Kerr Alumni Gazebo during the morning and after the football game. The Chowanian Society posed for a group photograph in the President’s Dining Room after a period of fellowship to renew acquaintances prior to the annual alumni luncheon. Members of the society attended Chowan more than 40 years ago, and each member enjoyed telling of the “old days” at their alma mater during their reunion during Homecoming weekend.
