4 inducted into local Hall of Fame Three former Chowan College athletes and a former coach and athletic director will be inducted into the Chowan Sports Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be held on Sept. 27, following Chowan's football game against Lees-McRae, in the Presidents Dining Room of Thomas Cafeteria. Those receiving the honor are Dr. Herb Appenzeller of Greensboro, Herman Clark of Murfreesboro, Robert (Bob) Joseph Prince of Springfield, Pa., and Pete Britton Jr. of Williamsburg, Va. They bring to nine the number of former athletes and supporters of the athletic program to be inducted. The first inductees last year were Donald G. Matthews, League City, Texas; W. Hilliard Greene Jr., Raleigh; Thomas T. Grayson, Burlington; Albert L. Vaughan, Ahoskie; and the late E. Patterson Banks of Murfreesboro. The Hall of Fame award is presented to the inductee who has had athletic achievement as a student or coach at Chowan, as an alumnus has brought considerable fame to the college as well as himself, or as a supporter has rendered invaluable assistance to the Braves' Club and its athletic departmenL IV86 Chowan Opener Chovran College, faculty and staff are actively Auditorium during the spring semester.
