Four new coaches join Chowan football team
Four new coaches have joined the
coaching staff for the Chowan Braves
football team this year.
Daryl Allen begins his first season as
offensive line coach. After graduating
from Perquimans High School, Allen
played center and linebacker at Chowan
before flnishing his college education at
Guilford College in 1959. For die last
19 years, Allen has coached at Ahoskie
and consolidated Hertford County High
School, winning 4 Eastern Cham
pionships while flnishing state runner-
up twice. One of the premier high
school coaches in North Carolina, Allen
recently retired after an illustrious 31-
year career. Allen's overall record of
242-98-6 ranked him third best among
the state's active coaches.
Allen and his wife, Katherine, have
three children, Donna, Eddie, Kathy, and
five grandchildren, Lauren, Daryl, Dare,
Johnny, and Kristina.
Bob Goff begins his first season at
Chowan as the linebacker coach. Goff, a
native of Spring Valley, New York,
will be a graduate assistant. A graduate
of Bradley University with a B.S.
degree, he has done graduate study work
at Springfield College and the
University of Maine. Goff has extensi^
experience, having served as Head Coach
in five schools in New York, Maine and
New Hampshire.
Goff and his wife, Melissa, have five
children, Rebecca, Brian, Robyn,
Colleen, and Joshua.
Ryan Poe begins his first season at
Chowan College as the defensive line
coach. A 1990 graduate of Troy State
University with a B.A. in journalism,
Poe was an offensive center, a 4-year
letterman, and a member of the 1987
team that won the NCAA Division II
National Championship.
A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and
a graduate of Central High School, Poe
is one of the bachelors on the coaching
staff.
Lonnie Mister also joins the coaching
staff as the wide-receiver coach. Mister
attended Chowan for two years in 1984-
85. While at Chowan, Mister played
quarterback, earning All-Region X
honors his sophomore year and being
named MVP of the Coastal Conference
All-Star game. After graduating from
Chowan, Mister continued his education
at North Alabama College on a football
scholarship earning a B.S. in physical
education and criminal science.
Named second team All-Conference
his senior year, Mister will be a
graduate assistant at Chowan while
working on his master’s degree. Mister
is one of the bachelors on the coaching
staff.
