24 hours a day Information Center provides a warm, friendly welcome 1991 Chowan Opener Welcome to Chowan! New and returning students get a warm welcome back from the smiling greeters in Chowan’s Information Cen ter. Members of the community and Chowan faculty and students agree it's a lot easier for visitors to receive in formation and directions when they enter the campus of Chowan since the in formation center was constructed last year. The center is staffed 24 hours a day and during the summer provided directions for the 2800 participants attending the 32 camps which were held on the campus of Chowan. "We are interested in welcoming visitors to our campus and providing them the information they need to make their visit a positive and pleasant one," slates Dr. Jerry Jackson, president of college. The information center is equipped with a telephone to provide additional security for the campus. According to Dr. Jackson, all cars will not be required to stop at the center upon entering the campus. After 12:00 midnight, how ever, cars may be stopped so students can receive assistance with dormitory entrance and for other assistance as needed. "We arc also trying to make the cam pus as secure as we can," explains Dr. Jackson. "The center is separate from the college's main security office, but will provide additional security for the campus, especially at night." Students serve as welcoming at tendants at the center some hours during the day, and visitors to the campus will receive a brochure entitled "Introducing Chowan College" which includes a campus map and information about lodging and dining in the area. So, students and parents in need of advice or directions when entering Chowan, be sure and stop and ask the friendly information center personnel.
