May 9th, Chowan College closed the doors on the 1991-92 school year with graduation of the class of 1992. With plans already in progress for 1992-1993, now is a go^ time to reflect on the past year. The Chowan College athletic pro grams participated in 251 intercollegiate athletic events winning 148 for an excellent 59% success rale. The Men's Basketball program won 25 games winning the Region X and District 10 Championship competing in the National Tournament to finish among the top 16 teams in the nation; Women's Volleyball won 32 games sharing the Conference Championship, and the Golf program won 44 matches setting a new record for wins in a season. The Braves had numerous All- Conference and All Region X performers plus nine All-Americans. Billy Lofton (Football) was named First Team, while Nathan Ludke (Wrestling) was selected as a Second Team All- American. Lofton was also selected to the Second Team J.C. Grid-Wire All- American Team. Seven of our student- athletes were selected to Academic All- American Squads; (Wrestling) Amador Padilla, Nestor Varona, Angel Vasquez, Scan Overa, and Rich Grey; (Wortien's Softball) Chrissie Perkinson, and (Football) Chad Drake J.C. Grid-Wire. Perkinson and Drake, this past year's Braves Club Scholarship Award winners, were also named to the prestigious Who's Who Among Student in American Junior Colleges in 1992. Drake also walked away with the Best All-Around Student Award presented lo him at Awards Day held on Campus. As we look anxiously to the fall when the athletic programs swing into action again, we look back at this past year with a feeling of great ac complishment. WELCOMES YOU! QUALITY... VALUE...
