Student officers are elected for 1993-94 MURFREESBORO — Sloan Holliday, a rising junior majoring in religion, has been elected president of Chowan College's Student Government Association for the 1993-94 academic year. The election of student leaders was conducted before the end of the spring semester. Holliday, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Maynard, is a graduate of Jones Wood High School of Gore, Va. He majoring in religion and plans to transfer to a seminary after graduation from Chowan. Elected vice president of the SGA was Shannon McAteer, a rising sophomore majoring in commercial art. A native of New port, she is the daughter of Mrs. Holly McAteer, and graduated from Great Mills High School. Craig Dennis will serve as trea surer for the next academic year. A commercial art major, he grad uated from Parkside High School in Parsonsburg, Md., and has completed three years of study at Chowan. Grant voted as president of *94 class MURFREESBORO — Jeff Grant, a biology major from Richmond, Va., is president of Chowan s first senior class since the college returned to four-year status. A graduate of Monacan High School, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William G. Grant. Serving as vice president of the Class of 1994 is Bobby Deacon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dea con of Conway. Deacon is major ing in science. Susan Lambert, a physical ed ucation major from Conway, will serve as secretary. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lambert of Coral Springs, Fla. Angie Bishard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Campbell of Murfreesboro and a business administration major, will serve as treasurer. Chowan has operated as a ju nior institution, except for several years it was closed during World War II, since September, 1938. Founded in 1848 as a four-year women's college, Chowan changed to junior college status at the end of the 1936-37 academic year because of financial difficul ties encountered during the de- pressipn years. 1993 Chowan Leisure time on the lal(e The scenic lake at the rear of the Qiowan College campus provides a quiet, peaceful location for students to relax after classes and on weekends.
