He stated that opinions and ideas are welcomed both by the Committee and the cafeteria staff. The Committee agreed to meet at 10:00 a. m. on the first Friday of each month, and agreed to publish the minutes in the Smoke Signals. It was su^ested that the editor of the Smoke Signals should be invited to attend the meetings. The following recommendations were considered: In an answer to a question raised by Carol Neidig, Mr. Deskins replied ftat tea bags are available to students, but cannot be left in the dining hall as previously since they are carried out by the students. They are available, but must be requested from from the ladies in the serving line. A request was made that increased staff be available in the snackbar from9:00 to 11:00 and at lunch hours. Mr. Deskins said that he would comply with this request. It was requested that grits and oat meal be served each morning and Mr. Deskins agreed to do this. A question was asked about the schedule of breakfast meats, and Mr. Deskins said that we serve meat every other morning. The problem may be corrected im mediately when they are informed of it. Various menu it^s were discussed, and in general the students seemed pleased with the rotation. Suggestions were requested from students about the type of highlight dinner to be served before Thanksgiving and Christmas. Possibilities include the traditional turkey dinner, a buffet style meal, a steamship round. Mr. Deskins in formed the group that he plahs to serve steaks at least once a month. Mrs. Vaim reported that the two Police Women who were guests of the college recently were very com plimentary of the meals they enjoyed in the cafeteria. Some of the student members complinented Mr. Deskins as well. Moreover, they expressed ap preciation for the fact that he has added soup to the noon meal. Mr. Deskins and Mr. Sutton agreed to investigate the possibility of a soft ice aeam machine for use on the serving lines. There seems to be less line breaking than we have experienced in the past, and students seem to be removing their soiled dishes and trays from the tables and carrying them to the pass-through window better than in the past. Mr. Desk^s pointed out that when students cooperate in this manner it cuts down cn labor costs and gives him more money to invest in special treats for students. The student committee members were invited to bring with them a fresh man who will serve &e balance of this year and next year on the Committee. It is like stepping into another dimention containing .vast ?)iiBnities of mass confusion, nervous break downs aae sheer frustrations, all which finally progress to tendencies of a psychopatheic killer. E^temisive research on the past of prominent local psychiatrists or shinks, ( Use the word your I.Q. allows you to understand) has shown that Chowan Registration deteriorates the mind. (Jttdgeing by some of the people around here, they lumw what they were talking about.) Several of them have already petitioned congress to dispose of this form of cruel and unusual punishment. Also, the registration process is physically exhausting, since it requires numerous trips from one station to another^ and up and down stairs at increased rate of speed. During these activities the rate of heart-beat in creases blood pressure rises and tempers boil. While each effect on the human body, either mentally or physically, are tragic alone, combined they create a disturbance similar to behavior of Froglodikes. If you don’t understand that, it means simply, “Riot with Reason” and has the diaracteristics of animal warfare. It seems we were lucky last time out, as far as fatalities are concerned. But ever though there were no injuries, five students have been reported missing in action. What has been presented here is a brief view of disadvantage in registration. But there’s more to it than that. In fact, after you’ve gotten over the initial shock, you’ll realize that registration has something fw everybody-depending on how derranged they are. Also NBC has confirmed plans to include an activity called “Registration Adventure,” (tosed on our own), on next season’s edition of “Almost Anything Goes Sophomores Susan Ferebee, left, of Camden and Jo Ann Light of Mechanicsville, Va., served as co-captains on the women’s volleyball team which captured thrid place In the North Carolina Junior College State Tournament at Duke University. Holding the trophy is Coach Janet Collins, who reported the team ended play with a 7-11 record. Most of the games were against senior colleges. Mrs. Collins said the Lady Braves played well against Peace College in the tournament game for second place. The Lady Braves won the second game and made a close contest for the deciding game before losing, 16-14. The tournament was won by Louisburg.
