No quarter was sought and none was given as the Braves and the Bobcats went at each other with Lees McRae gaining a hard fought 14-0 victory. The Presbyterian supported Lees McRae and the Baptist supported Chowan played 60 minutes of hard fought action typical of a fierce interstate rivalry. With the temperature over 95 degrees, and emotions running high, the heat was on at Chowan Stadium. The first half of the “Parents’ Day” game was scoreless as both defenses dominated the action. Chowan took the opening kickoff and moved the ball well early, but several mistakes forc ed the first drive to stall on the Lees McRae 33 yard line. The Braves, behind the ferocious play of linebackers Mike Felsoci and Roger Shadburn, held the explosive Bobcats in check during the first half. Lees McRae returned the second 'half kickoff 42 yards to set up the only ’^feosive score of the game. The Bob cats went S5 yards in 8 plays, aided by a pass interference call, to score with 11:41 left in the 3rd quarter. The P.A.T. was successful and the visitors from Banner Elk led 7-0. Chowan, plagued by poor field posi tion, received a break in the 3rd quarter when Rodney Brown in tercepted a pass and returned it 31 yards to the Lees McRae 16 yard line. 3 offensive plays were unsuccessful and a 32 yard field goal by Brain Dick was blocked with 14 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Early in the final period, the Bob cats intercepted a Brave pass and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown. The P.A.T. was good for a 144) score as neither team threatened again. The Brave defense had an outstan ding game against a heavily favored 5th ranked Bobcats team. Rodney Brown, Rufus Satchell and Todd War- then each had an interception and Chowan Gunter recovered 2 fumbles. Felsoci was the leading tackier with 11 solos, and 3 assists while Gunter add ed 7 solos and 4 assists. Offensively the Braves were not able to generate a consistent attack and several penalities came at crucial times. Chowan College 1986 Football Roster Ht. wt. Pos.
