February 28, 1962 THE WESLEYAN DECREE Page 3 The Bishop's Comer By MARY C. HODGIN Students Give Views On ACC Tournament It seems as if the most important question the sports enthusiasts are asking ithese days is who will toe the Atlantic Coast Conference Bas ketball Championship winner. Here’s v/hat several Wesleyan score-watch- ers have in answer to this question: John Alden — Duke will win the ACC play-offs. State won’t even BEST WISHES . . from Home of Better Values ‘Rocky Mount’s LARGEST Department Store” come close to the title. I ibelieve that Wake Forest will be the run ner up. This is without Heymen, of course! Billy Horner— V.P.I. could beat them all, but I’ll put my money on Duke because Johnston likes Carolina. Jerry “Teddy Bear” MiUer — Duke will be the new ACC champs, but N. C. State will win the ACC tournament and will reipresent the South in the NCAA Tournament. Vann Massey — Carolina will win iboth the conference and ACC Tour ney with Duke running a tight second. Francis Eason — My oipinion is that Duke will walk away with both conference title and ACC Tourney crowns. They will go to the NCAA representing the South in the play offs. Carolina will probably 'furnish Duke its toughest competition. Jimmy Johnston — Carolina’s go ing to win because of law of aver age. They’ll beat Wake Forest mak ing Duke-Carolina in the playoffs. Carolina will win. In contrast to our predictions, Wake Forest is given the ibest chance by many sportscasters 'be cause it has best man in the conference and one of the best in the country, Len Chappell. He is outstanding in every game and the controllmg factor in the Deacon’s , sudden spurge of triumph. We think 'John Bandy will agree!
