April 27 in the Miss Rocky Mount
Pageant by three lovely coeds,
Joan Lamberth, Patsy Matthews,
and Brenda Robinson.
The contest, a preliminary to the
Miss America contest, had three
divisions—evening gown, bathing
suit, and lalent.

talent was centered around a tramp
theme in which she danced, sang,
and iwirled the baton.
Patsy Matthews, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Sam H. Matthews, pre
sented a career speech entitled:
“Why I Want To Be A Doctor.”
She was sponsored by Costal Plain
Life Insurance Company.
Brenda placed in the top five
finalists. Joan, second runner-up,
came away with a trophy and a $25
Jaycee cash scholarship.

Miss Wollscheiber was graduated
from the University of Graz, Graz,
Austria. She earned the M.R.E.
degree from Duke University.
After teaching three years in the
public schools of Veinna she re
turned to complele her Ph.D. in
Physics at the University of Graz.

and is now working on her disser
tation.
