Stallings’ well-balanced scor
ing attack was the cause of the
Joyner’s defeat on Jan. 24. The
Joyner’s team was able to keep
pace during the first half, with
Stallings ahead only one point
at halftime.
During the second half, Stal
lings steadily increased its lead.
Midway in the second half it led
by 12 points. Joyner’s decreased
this lead by six points, but to no
avail. The final score was 54-45
in favor of Stallings.
Defeats Bank
With only five boys to play,
the Joyner’s team beat Peoples
Bank, 50-40, on Jan. 28. Peoples
Bank led by 6 points in the first
half, and the game remained 1
close through the finst three'
quarters. Then the roof feU in

11 points, Lloyd Nelson made 10,
and John Edgerton played for 8.
Before this game A1 Rexroad
had seen limited action, but he
played a brilliant floor game
against Peoples by holding his
man to only one point.
Joyner’s Loses
Clack’s BiU Beacham was a
one-man wrecking crew in hand
ing Joyner’s a 59-t4 defeat on
Jan. 30. Beacham scored 25
points and grabbed numerous
rebounds during the game. The
first half score was in favor of
Clacks, 26-20, and poor shooting
and loose defense was the main
reason for Joyner’s final defeat.
Lloyd Nelson led the team with
14 points and 9 rebounds. The
only other man in double figures
for the Joyner’s team was John
Edgerton with 10 points.
Whitakers Bows
Sharpening up for the tourna
ment, the Joyner’s team roUed
to a 64-37 victory over Whitakers
on Feb. 4. The Joyner’s fast-
break was working to perfec
tion. They also had a fine bal
anced scoring attack. Lloyd Nel
son led the attack with 20 points,
and John Edgerton had 16. Fol
lowing their leads. Bill Robert
son had 10 points, and Tom Dew
also made 10.
