A new policy concerning
Chapel cuts has been estab
lished from a recommenda
tion proposed by tfie Chapel
Committee. As stated in the
Cl)apel Committee’s minutes,
the policy is as ii'ollows:
“It was recommended that
two unexplained Chapel ab
sences be the maximum num
ber permitted. For a third
unexplained Chapel absence,
the student will be suspended
for the following term and
will be eligible to return to
Wesleyan the semester follow
ing his suspension. In the
case of a fourth unexplained
absence the student will be
summarily suspended.”
Each Monday following the
previous Thursday, a list of

First Cheering Squad
Chosen By Wesleyan
On Friday, November 1,
Wesleyan’s first cheering
isquad was chosen by 15
judges.
The conception of a cheer
ing squad arose through the
Faculty Student Life and
Services Committee and was
realized by the Athletic Com
mission. Mike Pratt and
David Reeves organized the
plans and introduced them
to the student body during
assembly.
The original idea was to
have three men and four wo
men, but due to the leak of
interest among men, only wo
men students participated.
Those who competed and
made the squad are Judy
Addison, a isophomore, and
secretary of her class. Both
last year and this year she
has been active in SGA work.
Linda Law, a blond haired,
blue-eyed freshman, was also
chosen.
Lynn Austin and Suzanne
Barwick, both freshman, are
active in student affairs. Both
Lynn ajid Suzanne are mem
bers of the Decree staff, and
Suzanne is also a member of
the Social Commission.

of New Bill.
Suspension Now Result
Of Overcuts In Chapel
At the October 28 meeting
of the Senate, Vice President
Robert Stephens presided in
the absence of John Hines,
President.
In the reports from the
committee, the chairman of
the grievance committee. Bill
Hartley reported a grievance
on the way food was being
Iserved in the cafeteria. He
reported that he received a
letter from Miss Hailey con
cerning this situation. How
ever, he reported that part of
the letter contained a student
grievance submitted to the
committee. He said, “In other
words, if everything in the
letter is attributed to the
grievance committee in terms
of a student grievance, it’s
wrong and a little unclear.”
He ended by saying that he
will report at a later Senate
meeting on the conclusion of
the isisue.
Next. Vice President Robert
Stephens read the old and
new proposed bill concerning
the Board of Review and
moved for the new bills ap
proval. They are a® follows:
Old BUI
I. A Board of Review shall be
set up as a Senate Com-
ter two abscnses, the student
will be sent a note by the
Director of Student Life ask
ing that these absences be
excused. Excused absences
are those which constitute an
excuse from the nurse in case
of illnesis, or explanation by
the participants in case of
automobile trouble, etc.
Those persons having ex
cessive cuts prior to Chapel,
November 7, 1963, will be
considered to have had their
two excused cuts, and any
further cuts, unless excused
will be handled in the above
manner. Those w'ho have
taken tv/o cuts need not con
sider them from this point
on, tliose who have overcut,
but not grossly will have a
note placed in their perma

GARY GARLOW claims new bill is “too wordy” and said we
have “no business dealing with academic affairs.”
