Gerschefski Coordinator Self-Study LETTER TO THE EDITOR The reputation of Wesleyan and its Outward appearance to the general public is the most im portant factor here. No one or nothing must disrupt this facade or they or it will be immediate ly removed from the college com munity. It is vital that Wesleyan put up this front of perfection in or der to get wealthy philantrophists to donate money to the college. Wesleyan is a growing com munity, a community designed to be perfect in every aspect of life. The only fault lies in the imperfect student body who finds themselves faced with problems they are’uhcapable of handling. But this tragedy must not stop us from being a Utopian society. The “troubel-makers” must simply be removed. There is a very simple solution to our pro blem. Wesleyan Is perfect, keep that ‘in mind. To this I can only offer my sympathy, for the unfeeling mon sters who hold this point of view. Wesleyan is far from being per fect. Students here are not per fect, they are normal human be ings with normal problems that must be handles, no matter of the so-called disgrace that be falls the name of Wesleyan. I am truly sorry that the situation I have stated is an iron-clad policy here for I feel that this policy will someday be the ruin of Wesleyan. LETTER TO THE EDITOR April 29, 1965 Mr. Ed Lewis, Editor The Decree North Carolina Wesleyan College Rocky Mount, N. C. Dear Mr. Lewis, In reviewing replies to ques tionnaires which were circulated to members of the student body by the Library’s Self Study Com mittee, I discovered that the headline in the February 25th issue of The Decree had been misleading. The headline read in bold typef $10,000 DONATED TO LIBRARY FUND. The following article made it clear that of the $12,368.94 raised by the Sabine polio vaccination program $1,500 was presented to the Edgecombe Memorial Library, $2,000 to Braswell Memorial Library and the remainder to Wesleyan. The $10,000 given to Wesleyan was to be added to the endowment fund for scholarships. Perhaps a brief statement from the editor will help to correct the impression which appears to be held by a few of your readers. Very truly yours, Walter Gray, Librarian Dear Mr. Gray, I thought that my reporter who was assigned to this story had done a thorough research job. However, since it appears that there was some misunderstand ing, I am printing your correc tion. Thank you very much. Ed. Marianne used facial and voice expression with skill, and managed a fair accent throughout. Bob Lyons was exceedingly convincing at most points in his execution of the part of Sean Early and played very well the old age element. Bill Barto was a sometimes bright spot in this show with an on and off Irish accent. Bill man aged however to keep a good pace and to deliver his lines con vincingly. pat Davis did a fine job of maintaining her gray hair and bent back. But her voice was definitely that of a very young person and her movements were not for a person over 30. Ed Lewis had a small but well played role which he made the most of. I never knew that Ed had such a fine singing voice. In any play, it would be a good idea to dispense with any accent. The majority of the players are not able to sustain a good ac cent, other th^n^ Southern, well enough to try it at all and it defeats the purpose. The play was generally enjoy able but not exceptional either In content or presentation. THE NEW GEHMAN'S JEWELRY Downtown Rocky Moiint GETKm 7f TUP YOUR mmsT AWAY SEVEN-UP BOTTUNO CO.
