PAGE 2 — THE DECREE — NOVEMBER 4,1994 V/esleyan students make ‘Who’s Who’ By KIMBERLY CURSEEN North Carolina Wesleyan Col lege has nominated 23 students to be included in the 1995 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in America Universities and Col leges. This edition will include students from 1,800 national and international colleges and univer sities. The students were selected based on their academic achieve ment, community service, extra curricular actives, and leadership potential. This year’s nominees are: Moses Terrell Adgers, Christina Boldt, Francenia Bonner, Gregory J. Boykin, Christian Brandt, Patrick Brannan, Kimberly Curseen, Tracitilean Dixon, Mariah Haigler, Kathleen Hakenson, Nikeshia Hanson, Curtis Jackson, Shannon Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Delinda Lee, Jennifer A. Littlejohn, Timothy N. Louk, Lionel J. Moad, Nicole Ogbum, Preston Rouse, Julie L. Salkeld, Susan R. It took the government all of two minutes to spend the gift. Bath time All parents are rejoicing at the findings of a recent survey of 699 parents of children under age six. The survey, spon sored by Dow Bathroom Cleaner with Scrubbing Bubbles, revealed that kids love to bathe. The survey also found that 48 percent of parents say their kids bathe at least once a day, and 17 percent report an average of seven-plus baths a week. The survey also found that boats were the favorite bathtub toy followed by rubber duckies, cups, toy animals, and dolls or action figures. Prisons equal to eighth largest city For the first time the United States has a prisoner popula tion over one million in state and federal prisons. This is almost equal to the population of the city of Phoenix, Ariz., the nation’s eighth largest city. A Justice Department report showed that as of the end of June there were 1,012,851 prisoners. Educational speaker Kermit the Frog spoke to more than 1,000 students at the Oxford Union Society at Britain’s Oxford University. The actor, singer, and amphibian talked about his education and environmental concerns for those on the lower half of the food chain. “I feel that the responsibility of representing an entire species is on my shoulders,” Kermit said.
