APRIL 19,2002 — THE DECREE — PA GE 3 CampusCruiser arrives at Wesleyan By PAUL DeGATEGNO and WEIMIN WANG Thanks to the Title III grant, this coming fall all the students at North Carolina Wesleyan College will be able to check their emails, class schedules and announce ments, course information, and grades in one place with a learning portal called CampusCruiser. All these will be done in a per sonalized and password protected web environment. As a part of the Title III initiative, Wesleyan College recently purchased Campus Cruiser developed by Time- Cruiser, Inc. to upgrade its web- based educational operations to meet growing needs. The site (http://prod.campuscruiser.com/ ncwc/) is expected to be up and running before the fall semester. What does all this mean? CampusCruiser is an inte grated web site or learning portal that provides a single point of access for all the campus activities. She will receive a $50 Bonus Dollar Card. On April 10, in the “Caring Cans” collection, Sodexho Campus Services offered a free lunch to anyone who brought in a canned item. With CampusCruiser, you can do that too. Below is a brief introduction of some features of CampusCruiser. For the students, you can access all the course websites you are taking from different professors from one starting page. You don’t have to leam how to navigate a course web site each time you take a new course because all the courses will have a consistent and standard format. You can chat with your class members live. You can post messages to the class message board. You can share the Word document or PowerPoint presentations with your class- Set your docks-mark your calendars! You can use templates to post your course syllabi, class calendar, assignments, shared files, and class links. You can use message board and chat room to communicate with students. You can also send emails to class members without having to set up a distribution list. One exciting feature is the ability to access nearly all Colleague data with a user-friendlier interface. The CampusCruiser site will also provide web access to the Colleague data when you are speaking with your advisees. Sound exciting?
