In my courses, I stress the impor tance and application of material on both a practical and theoretical level through activities and group discussion. I believe that students learn the most when they're in a supportive environment where they feel comfortable sharing their own definitions and understand ings. For example, I connect aca demic articles with both popular and personal accounts and ask students to put both popular and personal perceptions in dialogue with communication theory and practice during in-class discus sions and activities. I also advo cate for affective learning so stu dents can learn to both appreciate and value classroom material. As a result, students are more likely to remember as well as incorporate knowledge from the classroom to the world around them. HOBBIES/INTERESTS: When it’s safe to do so, I look forward to traveling again. Most recently I went to Denmark with my mother and brother to visit my great-grandmoth er's family home. I always like to make time to chat with my students. Whether it be discuss ing sports, food, my daughters and their shenanigans, students should be able to make a connection and relate to the instructor and their peers throughout our time together.
