Page 8 AMCO NEWS MAY, 1949 In Memoriam Mrs. Alma S. Clifton who was employed in the Main Office for more than a cpiarter of a century- was a part of the growth of the office force from four employees to the present force of fifty employees. .Alma Sizemore attended Oak Ridge Military Institute. After graduating from the high school, she completed the busi ness course there. She married Mr. B. E. Clifton March 24, 1927. W'hcn Mrs. Clifton came to work the office was located on the south side of English Street in the space now occupied hv the Sample Room. Her first duties were to copy orders and invoices. Of tlic four cmplovccs of the Office at the time of her cmplovmcnt, only two arc still employed: Miss Claudia Lamb and Mr. J. \V. Rose. On January 26, 1949 .Mma succumbed to an illness of over tw-o years. She had worked intermittently since an operation in the summer of 1946. Mrs. Clifton possessed a quiet uuassum- ing personality whicli won for licr the lor e and respect of everyone with whom she came in contact. She was most loyal and faitlifiil in her work. Having worked in excess of twenty-five rears, she had participated in the Profit Sharing Plan of Adams-Millis Corporation since the plan was inaugurated and had accumulated to her account $1056.4s plus 194H and 1949 contributions. She had designated as the heneficiary of her bene fits her husband, B. E, Clifton, who has already been paid $1706.00 as beneficiary of the life insurance is.sued as one of the benefits of the Profit Sharing Plan. lie will also be paid all cash accruals when the exact amounts arc known. Since Mrs. Clifton was employed by the company during the month of January, her account will be credited with the serv- ivc units for the entire year 1949. ADAMS-MILLIS SAFETY RECORD Our safety record looks good for the first four months of the calendar year. Only one accident involving loss of time has been reported. A total of seventeen accidents without lost time includes five accidents resulting in injury to the eye. Protect your eyes when using the emery wheel. Allow no one except persons desig nated by your foreman to attempt to re move foreign body from your eye. Other accidents this year resulted in: 3 injuries to the hand, 1 bruised chest, 1 arm injury, 3 leg injuries, 2 injuries to the face, 2 injuries to the foot, 1 scalp injury. Millis was elected Assist ant Treasurer. lie entered a training program upon his discharge from the Army Air Corps in I'chruary, 1946 and worked in practically every department in the Plants during 1946 and 1947. Upon completion of his training in Plant Management, Jim was assigned to the Accounting Department where he has since hcen working. Other officers re-clcctcd at the March meeting were: J.
