Hepsie Casper, looper, Plant #4,
has retired due to physcial disability.
Mrs. Casper has arthritis which rend
ers her unable to loop or perform other
work.
Originally a top knitter in Albe
marle, she later learned looping and
came to Kernersville in 1930 as a loop
er. After working several years, she
quit for a while, returning on Novem
ber 30, 1948.
She lives in Kernersville with her
daughter.
After approximately 30 years of
service with Adams-Millis Corpora
tion, J. P. Clodfelter, boarder. Plant
#1, retired June 9, 1955, on the basis
of physical disability.
Mr. Clodfelter was born in David
son County on July 6, 1898. He came
to Adams-Millis Corporation shortly
after World War I and learned to board
under Roscoe Pierce. Boarding Room
foreman at that time. After boarding
for several years, Mr. Clodfelter left
Adams-Millis and farmed until 1936,
when he returned to his old job in the
Boarding Department. He worked there
continuously until last November when
he suffered a heart attack and it became
necessary for him to give up his work
this spring.
The father of four sons and two
daughters, Mr. Clodfelter lives at 2305
Geddie Avenue and is a member of Mid
way Methodist Church near Lexington.
His wife, Manilla Clodfelter, was form
erly employed as a looper at Plant #1.
Mr. Clodfelter will receive ap
proximately $ 1, 200. 00 from his Profit
Sharing Account. He has received an
initial payment of $500.00 and has elect
ed to receive the balance in payments
of $60.00 per month.
Ida Mae Lindsay has been retired
due to hypertension. Ida Mae put on
riders in Plant #3, starting in 1923 and
continuing until last summer when she
left due to her physical disability.
Miss Lindsay has lived in High Point
practically all of her life. She complet
ed the 11th grade at William Penn High
School and then started to work with
Adams-Millis. Her sister, Alma, was
retired in 1950 due to physical dis
ability. They both live at 1224 Downing
Street and attend St. Mark Methodist
Church.
Ida Mae said, "I appreciate every
thing my company has done for me and
I especially appreciate the Profit Shar-
ingPlan. The retirement fund is a great
help when you get sick and can't work
any more. "
