Plant #1, pursuing her hobby of china
painting. Ollie enrolled in the china
painting class of the Arts and Crafts
Workshop, sponsored by the City Re
creation Department, and has had twenty
lessons thus far. She has spent ten to
twenty hours on each of her large col
lection of plates, as a great deal of
painstaking work goes into each one.
Some plates have to be fired as many as
three times, for four hours each time,
at 1500 degrees. Her specialtyis wed
ding and birth plates, which she does
exceptionally well.
Ollie also does oil painting, but pre
fers china painting as she finds it more
relaxing. She also has plans to study
interior decorating as her next course
in the Arts and Crafts Workshop.
The Workshop offers many courses
in arts and crafts, and registration for
the next session will be held on Janu
ary 5. A registration fee of $2.00 covers
an entire course of 8 weeks.
As fits the holy Christmas birth,
Be this, good friends, our carol still—
Be peace on earth, be peace on earth.
To men of gentle will.
