FIVE SPECIAL THANK YOU’S V LOVE FITTS MARTIN CANNON JONES The success of the April 19-20 visit of the Red Cross Bloodmobile was due in a large measure to the employees of Adams-Millis Corporation. For our 97 solicited donors, our thanks must go to our Gray Ladies who, with tireless ef- f ort, contacted each employee and re quested that he give a pint of blood, if possible. Working in our English Street plants were Edith Love, Ethel Fitts and Margye Martin, all of Plant #2; while working in our Grimes Street plant were Inez Cannon and Carrie Jones, of Plant #1. The program of volunteer service performed by our Gray Ladies is a very extensive one; their duties are many and varied. High Point can boast of 125 1-adies in number, and the local program has been suited to our own community ueeds. In the hospital, the Ladies serve as receptionists, surgical escorts, and are always ready to lend a helping hand. They work at the Bloodmobile on its periodic visits to our city. They visit shut-ins. And they visit and work with the veterans at the V. A. Hospital in Salisbury. These are their regular duties. In addition, they are always happy to help with any special project. Recently, they have been called on to staff one of the North Carolina Health Department's mobile X -ray units, and l ast fall to help with the polio innocula- tion program in the city schools. How are they renumerated for their services? Materially, by one bar on their sleeve for each year of service (75 hours, or more) and one chevron for every four years of service. How ever, there is no measure for the inner satisfaction gained from this wonderful program of service so faithfully and selflessly carried out. NOTICE TO ALL EMPLOYEES According to the terms of our vaca tion plan, we designate the week be ginning Monday, July 2, 1956, as vaca tion week. If work is necessary in your department during the vacation week, we will call for volunteers. You will, of course, be paid your regular wages for any work performed during vacation week. Our plants will close on Friday night, June 29, 1956, and will resume operations on Monday morning, July 9, 1956. Vacation pay checks will be deliv ered on Friday, June 22, 1956. We wish for all of our employees and their families a safe and happy va cation. - 3 - ADAMS-MILLIS CORPORATION
