14 - EMERGENCY REQUEST FOR BLOOD ANSWERED J. W. Snotherly, Personnel Di rector, recently received a request from Mrs. Kathleen Harris of the local Red Cross office for five type "O" positive blood donors to come to the aid of Mr. Henry Callahan, 503 Woodbury Street, High Point. Mr. Callahan, a patient in a Conway, S. C., hospital, was in need of blood of this type; and, the Charlotte Red Cross office, being unable to supply that amount of that particular type blood, contacted Mrs. Harris for local donors. Mrs. Harris, in turn, phoned Mr. Snotherly. As soon as the call went out to our plants, five donors volunteered immediately. Ar rangements were made, the blood was donated and sent to Charlotte for Mr. Callahan at Conway. The five donors who answered this special request were Nancy Boyles, Main Office; Robah Boyles, Machine Shop; Bill Hayworth, Plant #1; John Efird, Sample Department, and Tommy Bennett, Plant #1. NEW BLOODMOBILE CAPTAINS Adams-Millis Corporation's newly appointed Bloodmobile captains opened the new Red Cross Bloodmobile Pro gram year with an excellent solicitation of 39 donors from our plants. The new captains are Elmer Hoover, Knitting Department foreman. Plant #1; Eugene Yow, Pairing Department foreman. Plant #Z; and Bob Michael, Quality Con trol man. Plant #7. A total of 366 pints of blood, 66 pints over quota, were donated during the two- day visit of the Bloodmobile on July 25 and 26. Donors from Adams-Millis were: Millie Moore, Mildred D. Bell, of the Main Office. 9ic :4c ^ 3[e INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS CONFERENCE Robert L.Boyles, assistant super intendent of our seamless plants, and J. W. Snotherly, personnel director, recently attended the Southern Indus trial Relations Conference held at Blue Ridge. The theme of the conference was, "Human Relations in Expanding Indus try. " Outstanding speakers from in dustries throughout the Southeast ap peared on the program.
