8 - NEWS AROUND THE PLANTS PLANT NO. 1 Jesse Shaw was pleasantly surpris ed on the occasion of his retirement when his plant superintendent, the fore men, time clerks and clerical workers of Plant #1 presented him with a table model radio. Employees of the Finish ing Department gave a dinner for Jesse and Ethel Hutchens, who also retired, on Friday, June 29. Mrs. Hutchens was presented porch furniture and Mr. Shaw was given luggage. Both of them will be missed very much and we wish for them much happiness in the future. Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Inman are the proud parents of a new daughter, Sheila Ann, born July 7, 1956. Bennie is employed in the laboratory at Plant #1. Larry Jones and Mary Ann Crews were married on June 30 at Chester field, S. C. They spent their honey moon at Miami Beach, Florida. Larry is a boarder at Plant #1. Much happi ness is wished for themL Employees of the Knitting Depart ment are missing Ernestine Noble, who left us to accept other work. She was a timekeeper and had been employed by the company for 14 years. The time keepers and clerks presented her with a set of dishes as a farewell gift, but hope she won't forget us. The Knitting Department employees are missing seeing Paul Dillon around. It is hoped that he will soon be well and back to work. Paul is a knitter. Welcome back to Wayne Davis of the Knitting Department. Wayne is back at work after nursing a broken wrist for several weeks. Rachel Smith and Clyde Marsh were married onJulyl, 1956, atWadesboro, N. C., and spent their honeymoon at Atlantic Beach. Clyde is employed as a yarn boy in the Knitting Department. It's a boy for Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Wade. William Monroe Wade made his appearance on July 18. The mother, Treva Shaffer Wade, is a knitter at Plant #1. Congratulations and best wishes to Betty Benfield and Aubrey S. Pardue who were married in a home ceremony on June 16, 1956, by the Rev. Roger Bell. Betty is a knitter at Plant #1. Employees of the Knitting Depart ment spent their vacations in a variety of places. Foreman Ben Hooks and his wife, Virginia, visited Daytona Beach, Florida. Leo Griffin, yarn man, took his boat and went to White Lake for his vacation. Vacationers at Myrtle Beach were Fred Beck, fixer; Carolyn Wal" lace, timekeeper; Billy Mabe and Sue Hill. George Neal and his family visit ed Miami Beach. Pansy Davis enjoyed touring western North Carolina with her family. Allie Britt wentto White Lake. Dor is Cromer visited Norfolk, Va. , and Ocean View. Timekeeper Rochelle Mc Arthur spent the week visiting friends in Hampton, Va., and Buckroe Beach. Fixer Earl Brooks also visited in Nor folk and enjoyed several days of sun shine at Buckroe Beach. Fixer Allen McDaniel enjoyed his vacation at Caro lina Beach.
