‘O:- S. M. Hutton, warehouseman who is retiring on the basis of age, plans to spend much of his time at Kure Beach and Willis Landing. To be sure he would write them occasionally giving the latest in formation about fishing and the weather, the em ployees of the Warehouse and Duplicating Depart ment presented him a fountain pen. Pictured with Mr. Hutton are Addline Hill, Charlie Deviney, Joe Smith, Eugene Wilson, Ruth Ellington, Tom Wash ington, and Juanita Voncannon. "Buddy" came to Adams-Millis Corporation on July 15, 1929 from Black Mountain, N. C., where he was in charge of the Knitting Department of a plant. He was a fixer at Plant Three from 1929 to 1933. He was transferred to Plant One, where he was in charge of the Knitting Room until 1950. Mr. Hutton has been supervisor of the Warehouse from 1950 to 1956. Having an apartment building at Willis Landing near Camp Lejeune and cottages at Kure Beach, the Huttons plan to spend much of their time at the coast. "There are athousandthingstobe done at home and at the beach; I'll be busier than 1 have ever been. First, I've got to get a well dug and then fix up my buildings, " Mr. Hutton answered as to his plans. "The hardest thing about retiring is leaving so many friends at Adams-Millis, " he continued. S. M. Hutton has a son and a daughter employed here. The daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Whetstone, is in the Purchasing Department; and the son, Marion, is in the Pattern and'Styling Department. Mrs. Sadie Cr av- en, looper. Plant One, has retired due to physical disa bility. Mrs. Craven was first employed as a looper in 1928. She had worked continuously since 1946. Mrs. Craven has a sis ter, Mrs. Katherine Leap- trope, now looping in Plant One, and a brother, Eck Spencer, who is a fixer in Plant One. A son, Arnold Craven, Jr., was'formerly employed in Plant Seven. « 4: 4: « * * He rode 20 miles Many a man rode 20 miles to vote just a few years ago. Now it’s only blocks to the polls.
