AMCO NEWS Vol. XX No. 4 Adams-Millis Corporation May, 1962 MEET YOUR SUPERVISOR Ralph B. Wilson, supervisor of the Knitting Department of Plant #4, was born to Virgil and Sadie Beeson Wilson on a farm in Forsyth County on Decem ber 18, 1902. After attending Forsyth County and Kern- ersville Schools, he farmed until 1922 when he took a job learning to knit for the Vance Knitting Company in Kernersville; there, in 1924, he was promoted to the position of fixer, Ralph Wilson's employment with Adams-Millis Corporation began in October of 1927 when he left Vance Hosiery Company to accept a job as fixer with the company. He remained in the Knitting Department until 1945 at which time he opened a small ho siery company of his own in Kerners- ville. January of 1952 saw Ralph's re turn to Adams-Millis Corporation's Kernersville plant, however, as as sistant second-shift supervisor of the Knitting Department and in December of the same year, he was promoted to assistant foreman of the first shift. When Howard Young, then first-shift knitting supervisor, was named plant superintendent in January of 1959, Wilson was moved up to first-shift supervisor, the position he now holds. In addition to his duties as knitting supervisor, he is presently chairman of the Quality Control Committee of Plant #4. Ralph is married to the former Miss Stella Rumley and they have two children--a son and a daughter. The son, R. B. , Jr. , holds a position with the Winston-Salem Journal and Sentinel Newspaper. The daughter, Alice Faye Sexton, a graduate of W. C. U. N. C. , has taught school for six years; she now lives in Durham where her husband directs the activi ties of McLean Trucking Company terminals in the eastern part of North Carolina. The Wilson family have been mem- i bers of the Kernersville Moravian ‘ Church since 1935. Ralph and his wife .'' reside at 250 East Mountain Street in Kernersville. Vacation Notice According to the terms of our vacation plan, we designate the week beginning Monday, July 2, 1962, as vacation week. If work is necessary in your department during the vaca tion week, we will call for volunteers. If you are offered work during vaca tion week and you do not wish to work, your job will not be affected. You will, of course, be paid your regular wages for any work performed during vaca tion week. Our plants will close on Friday night, June 29, 1962, and will resume operations on Monday morning, July 9, 1962, Summer vacation pay checks will be delivered on Friday, June 29, 1962.
