ATHANAS NAMED PRESIDENT of MAC PANEL Appointment of George L. Athanas as president of the MAC Panel Divi sion of Adams- Millis has been announced by Pre s. James H. Millis. Athanas will take over MAC Panel operations on July 15, replac ing H. O. Williams who moves to ex ecutive duties within the parent corpo ration. Athanas was formerly with Honey well Electronic Data Processing, a division of Minneapolis-Honeywell, as branch sales manager in the Detroit area office. Prior to his five years with Honeywell, he was associated with IBM Corporation. In his new position, Athanas will assume overall responsibility of MAC Panel's operations, which include the manufacture and sales of control panels, wires and magnetic computer tape, and the research and development of other products for electronic data processing installations. He will also supervise activities of the company's Original Equipment Manufacturers Division, which produces complete programming systems such as used in equipment em ployed in the aerospace industry, as well as coordinate the IvlAC Panel opera tions of Adams-Millis (Europe), the corporation's Belgian-based marketing and manufacturing facility serving Europe. Athanas, jet pilot during the Korean War, holds a B. S. degree in engineer ing from Princeton University. He is married, and he and his wife and two children presently reside in Detroit. He is a member of the Methodist church and various civic organizations there. Concurrent with the announce ment of Athanas'appointment. Presi dent Millis announced that Donald V. Creede, sales manager for MAC Panel, has been made a vice president of the company in charge of sales. He has been in MAC Panel's High Point office for two years and was formerly assistant branch manager in the firm's New York office. In commenting on the appoint- rnents. President Millis stated that Adams-Millis is fortunate in secur ing a man with the data processing experience and executive capabilities that Athanas has to serve as president of MAC Panel. Athanas and the other officers of the company--Creede, vice president of sales; Edward V. Saude, vice president of production; and Frank Stewart, manager of mag netic tape products --form "an ex tremely strong management team, " he said, "which is essential in the highly competitive electronic data processing field.
