When the Na
tional Park Service
acquired land in
Western North Caro
lina for the estab
lishment of Great
Smoky Mountain
Park, Felix Webb
was living with his
parents on a farm
near Cherokee. The
Webb farm was
within the bound
aries of the park
site; and when it was purchased by the
government to become part of the park,
the Webb family moved to High Point.
Felix was then 13.
He first worked with the Stehli
Silk Mill and later with Hillcrest
Weaving. He was with Duke Power
Company and Consolidated Bus Com
pany from 1941 to February 25, 1959,
when he joined the Wire Division of
MAC Panel, which was then located on
Hamilton Street. At that time, there
was one small moulding machine and
one crimper. Felix was named super
visor of the Wire Division, which was
moved to the Grimes Street location
last year.
He married the former Miss Bes
sie Proctor; they have two daughters,
Mrs. Cletus Combs, of High Point,
and Miss Janice Webb, of the home.
Louis Butler, our casting operator
of the month, has been with Southern
Die Casting and Engineering since
June 22, 1962. His interest in his work
is reflected in his painstaking perform
ance and his production of top quality
castings. His dependability and his
cooperative and friendly manner are
other qualities that help to make him an
operator worthy of recognition.
Louis was born onOctober 24, 1931,
in Greensboro, N. C. and attended
Cherry Grove School. He is single and
resides with his parents on Route #1,
Reidsville, N. C.
One of the most important ingredi
ents in a recipe for speech-making or
sermonizing is plenty of shortening.

things to have money; now you go with
out money to have things.
The really significant thing about
the invention of the telephone is that
it followed by 25 years the invention
of the bathtub. Just think; for 25years
you could have sat in the tub without
the phone ringing.
