AMCO NEWS Vol. XXI1 No. 7 Adams-Millis Corporation Oct. - Nov. 1964 NEW PLANT ANNOUNCED FOR KERNERSVILLE sSbs ADAMS-MILLIS FIMISUING PLANT President J. H. Millis has an nounced that Adams-Millis Corporation will begin construction on a new $3, 000, 000 plant on a 40-acre site located on U. S. Highway ISOjustnorth of Kernersville, N. C. The projected new plant, consisting of 320, 000 square feet, will include finishing, warehous ing and distributing facilities and is planned as an expansion of the com pany's Kernersville plant located near by. President Millis stated that the new plant will provide overall produc tion of approximately 35% and that the warehousing and distribution areas will be almost double. He added that the new expansion is planned to provide more and better services for the com pany's customers, in addition to the increased productive capacity. Opera tions will continue in the present Kern ersville plant. Planned for employee comfort and working efficiency, as well as operat ing economy, the new one-story plant will be fully air-conditioned and will include adequate paved parking areas. Modern mechanized materials handling equipment will be utilized throughout the building, which is expected to be ready for partial use in May of 1965. President Millis said that in addi tion to increased space and facilities, the company believes that customer service and deliveries can be improved through sharply increased use of elec tronic data processing equipment and that Adams-Millis has contracted for an IBM 1440 computer, which will be installed in February of 1965.
