NEWS AROUND THE PLANTS Plant #1: Looks mighty good to see Mary Bowman back in the Finishing Room. She has been out for several weeks recovering from major surgery. Brenda Hopkins became the bride of Larry Wayne Dick ens on June 11, 1965, at Bales Chapel parsonage. The Rev. E. M. Gardner officiated. Brenda is a folder in the Finishing Department of Plant #1. Dorothy B. Harvey and Spec. 4 Houston B. Hardee, Jr. were married on Saturday, May 15, at Fair Grove Lions Club, with Rev. Fred Jurney officiating. Dorothy is employed in the Seaming Department of Plant #1. Barbara Edwards and Richard Phillips were married in Asheboro on May 14, 1965. Barbara is also em ployed in the Finishing Department of Plant #1, Our congratulations and best wishes to both of these newly wed couple s J The Seaming Department misses Susie Gas away who quit work to stay at home with her newly adopted baby son, Steve. Electa Apple, looper of Plant #1, and her husband recently visited their daughter in Morristown, N. J. , and spent some time at the World's Fair in New York. They also visited George Washington's old home. The Knitting Department seems to be plagued by illnesses. Margaret Hilliard, Winton Brittain, Robert Pons, Hayes Rouse and Zena Phillips are all out of work because of illness or in jury. Hope they can soon be back with us. 9 -15- Tommy Beck, June groom-elect of Brenda Jones of Thomasville, was entertained with a surprise miscel laneous "groom" shower at the home of Lucille Miller on May 24. Hostesses and guests were the girls of the Knit ting Department of Plant #1 where Tommy is head knitter. Upon arrival. Tommy was pre sented a noose (made from household articles) and a ball and chain, which he is wearing in the picture above.
