AMCO NEWS Vol. XXlll No. 5 Adams-Millis Corporation Sept. - Oct. , 1965 UNITED APPEAL CAMPAIGNS GET UNDERWAY October is United Appeal month. Kick-off date for High Point is Octo ber 5; the Mt. Airy campaign will get under way on October 1. The date for the Kernersville campaign was not known when the AMCO NEWS went to press. The goal for the High Point United Appeal is $368, 353.00, an increase of approximately ten per cent over the budget for last year. The payroll de duction plan suggests a weekly or monthly contribution in proportion to average earnings. There are 27 agencies participating in the United Community Services of Greater High Point, Kernersville is served by many of the 40 agencies participating in the United Fund of Forsyth County, which has a goal of $1, 110, 000. 00. Em ployees of Adams-Millis plants in Kernersville will be contacted for their gifts to the Forsyth County Fund. The goal is per week for each employee. The Kernersville YMCA receives $19, 543. 00 from the United Fund, an amount which is greater than the goal set for the Kernersville community. The Greater Mt, Airy United Fund Campaign has set a goal of $65, 257. 00. One day's pay from each person is asked to help support 22 agencies. J. H. Millis, president of Adams- Millis Corporation, expressed the hope that the campaigns in the plants could be completed "on schedule" with each employee giving his fair share to the support of the agencies participating in the United giving. "Your company has pledged its sup port to your United Appeal. We have already signed the pledge cards for the amounts your company was asked to give. We believe in the United way of giving to our community agencies, " Mr, Millis stated, "and we are happy to offer the payroll deduction plan which enables our employees to make weekly pledges to be deducted through out the year. This plan makes it pos sible for us to give during the year a Small amount each week which will represent our fair share. Employees are asked for a minimum of 25^ per week, only 5^5 per day. It is our sincere hope each employee will give the equivalent of one hour's pay per month. " A United Fund is run by the peo ple in a community. Volunteer citi zens set the goal; they head up the campaign, solicit your gifts and budg et the dollars to match the needs.
