ber 5; the Mt. Airy campaign will get
under way on October 1. The date for

approximately ten per cent over the
budget for last year. The payroll de
duction plan suggests a weekly or
monthly contribution in proportion to
average earnings. There are 27
agencies participating in the United
Community Services of Greater High
Point,
Kernersville is served by many
of the 40 agencies participating in the
United Fund of Forsyth County, which
has a goal of $1, 110, 000. 00. Em
ployees of Adams-Millis plants in
Kernersville will be contacted for their
gifts to the Forsyth County Fund. The
goal is per week for each employee.
The Kernersville YMCA receives
$19, 543. 00 from the United Fund, an
amount which is greater than the goal
set for the Kernersville community.
The Greater Mt, Airy United Fund
Campaign has set a goal of $65, 257. 00.
One day's pay from each person is
asked to help support 22 agencies.
J. H. Millis, president of Adams-
Millis Corporation, expressed the
hope that the campaigns in the plants
could be completed "on schedule"
with each employee giving his fair
share to the support of the agencies
participating in the United giving.
"Your company has pledged its sup
port to your United Appeal. We have
already signed the pledge cards for
the amounts your company was asked
to give. We believe in the United way
of giving to our community agencies, "
Mr, Millis stated, "and we are happy
to offer the payroll deduction plan
which enables our employees to make
weekly pledges to be deducted through
out the year. This plan makes it pos
sible for us to give during the year a
Small amount each week which will
represent our fair share. Employees
are asked for a minimum of 25^
per week, only 5^5 per day. It is
our sincere hope each employee will
give the equivalent of one hour's pay
per month. "
A United Fund is run by the peo
ple in a community. Volunteer citi
zens set the goal; they head up the
campaign, solicit your gifts and budg
et the dollars to match the needs.
The volunteers give their time and
skills to do what they can to make
