FOREMEN VISIT A-M PLACES THIRD BEAR BRAND PLANTS J. W. Ledwell, supervisor of seaming, plant seven, and Sam Dale, supervisor of seaming, plant one, visited Bear Brand plants in Hen derson, Kentucky and Fayetteville, Arkansas to observe operations. Both Dale and Ledwell paid partic ular attention to the seaming in the plants. Ladies' hose are made in the Arkansas plant while half hose are manufactured in the Kentucky plant. Ledwell and Dale stated they were impressed by the pride Bear Brand employees take in their work. They praised the plants for excellent housekeeping and cleanliness. "We saw some very fine working areas and we hope to benefit from our visit there, ” they stated. Competing with twenty other in dustrial firms, Adams-Millis took third place in the Industrial Olympics sponsored by the High Point YMCA. Carl Cook, machine shop, placed in checkers for the second consecutive time. Ed Price was second in under water bingo and fourth in ping pong. With practically no experience in paddle racket, Tommie Beck, #1 Knit ting Department, teamed with Percy Idol, Main Office, to take second in that event. Leo Griffin, also of #1 Knitting Department, shot a 96 out of a possible 100 in riflery, and Charles Tuttle, of #7 Finishing Department, sank 4 aces out of 6 shots in putting. Competition was much keener in the second Olympics than in the first. The next Olympics is sched uled for the early part of next year. The Adams- Millis Maroons won the High Point Little Industrial Baseball League champion ship with a perfect season. They did not lose a game in the regular season and continued un defeated in the championship play off. The team, coached by A. B. and Jimmie Lock hart, also won two games in the state tournament, de - feating Statesville and Durham,before being eliminated by Charlotte. The Adams-Millis Reds, the team made up of the younger and less experienced players, were not so suc cessful and did not advance to the play-offs. - 7 - When you give the United way, you give hope.
