-10- MAN ESS LANIER HOSIERY 46 YEARS "I'm not going to just sit down--I've been active too long, " was the sentiment of MANESS LANIER upon his retirement from the Hosiery- Division's knitting plant in Kernersville. And he has been active for a long time for forty- six years with Adams-Millis Corporation, most of those years being spent as a knitting machine fixer. Except for four years spent in the Army's Quartermaster Corps during World War II, Maness has been with the company since 1927. He was born in Denton where he also attended school and in 1928 married Miss Lula Harris. They now live at 201 Lansdowne Street in High Point and attend Fairmont Park Baptist Church. MYRTLE EPPS, HOSIERY - 36 YEARS With thirty-six years of continuous service behind her, MYRTLE EPPS has retired from the seaming department of the Ladies' Ho siery Division in High Point. She underwent bone surgery in the early summer and even though she is convalescing satisfactorily, she decided not to return to public work. Myrtle remembers well the day she started learning to loop--it was the last day of August in 1937, and she wore her prettiest dress that day. She remembers, too, that it was "wonderful to get to work with Adams-Millis. " "I want to say that I have enjoyed work ing at Adams-Millis and every supervisor through the years has been really nice to me. Too, I have especially appreciated receiving a gift subscription to Guideposts each year, " Myrtle commented. Her hobby is writing poetry and she loves to read; she expects to devote more time to both while she is convalescing. She resides at 205 W, Lexington Avenue in High Point and is an active member of North Main Street Baptist Church. ALLENE C. BURROW HOSIERY 35 YEARS ALLENE C. BURROW, seamer in the Ladies' Hosiery Division in High Point, retired July 15, 197 3. She had been with the company since 1938. Born in High Point, Allene attended school in High Point and still makes her home in High Point at 713-A Chandler Street. She is an active member of First Church of Christ. She has three children, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her daughter) Eloise Daily, is also employed with AdarnS' Millis Hosiery Company in High Point. Allene has no special plans at the moment except to spend some additional time at her ne'^ sewing machine. CLARA FRAZIER HOSIERY 25 YEARS CLARA FRAZIER has been quite busy this summer with gardening, freezing and can- ning; and since her retirement in July, she has had even more time to devote to this work. She was employed in the boarding department of the Ladies' Hosiery Division in High Point twenty' five years ago; her last job was seaming.
